ABOUT MEMy name is Laura. I live in South Austin with my husband Mike and my dogs Linus and Moo (shown here). I've been shooting weddings for almost 9 years now, and before that I took college courses in photography at my alma mater, Southwestern University in Georgetown. I love my job and I feel very lucky to be able to share in and document such special times in people's lives.
MY PHILOSOPHY

I found the above message in a fortune cookie years ago. Normally, I don’t pay much attention to messages out of fortune cookies, but this message really affected me. My goal became to continue to develop and enhance my photography to seek out and capture beauty and art in all of my images.
At each and every wedding that I photograph, I strive to capture in an unobtrusive manner all the moments - the tears, the joy, the laughter, and the excitement that compose each wedding. I try to be in tune with my clients and I feel like I am able to anticipate and therefore capture the “decisive moment” in many of my images. I hope that when you look at your wedding photos for the first time you feel a flood of emotion and that you are touched by the beauty and simplicity of your images.
Because of my background in fine art photography and my interest in graphic design, I believe in offering unique and modern showcases for your wedding images. I offer custom designed, hand made albums - they’re not your mother’s wedding album. You’ll have to look elsewhere if you’d like a hunter green album with gold gilding! Proofs are actually printed with borders, in the same way that fine art photography is showcased. My digital images are custom processed as fine art images and are artfully toned, colored, and maniplated to show the true beauty of the images.
My work has been published in the national issue of The Knot magazine as well as The Knot Real Weddings Texas for many issues running, the Austin Wedding Guide, and Austin Wedding Day Magazine.
I have photographed weddings all around Texas and in St. Kitts, Acapulco, Playa del Carmen, Isla Mujeres, Napa Valley, and Barbados.
WHY ECLECTIC?
Eclectic is defined by the dictionary as “selecting or employing individual elements from a variety of sources, systems, or styles.” I call myself eclectic because my background in fine art, architectural, and photojournalism photography, my interest in unique photographic techniques such as cross processing and toning, and my skills in graphic design result in a merge of styles in my work that I believe is truly unparalleled.
